Which AI model is used?
The configured provider is Alibaba Cloud Bailian / Qwen (Beijing), with model qwen3.8-max-0902. The workspace displays the current provider and model before you consent. Configuration can change and a configured model can be temporarily unavailable.
ConvertLayer provides limited access to document tasks through a model API. It does not host model weights, offer model downloads, provide an unrestricted chatbot or expose a public free model API. No third-party endorsement is implied.
What can I do for free?
- AI PDF and text summaries: generate a short explanation from your document, then compare page references.
- Chat with PDF: ask a specific question about the supplied document and inspect the source.
- PDF to Markdown, field extraction and paper metadata: extract and organize source text without a generative model.
Free AI limits
- 3 requests per network per UTC day. Users on one shared network share the allowance. The daily reset is 00:00 UTC.
- One file up to 4 MB, at most 10 PDF pages and 60,000 extracted characters.
- AI input up to 32,000 UTF-8 source bytes and output up to 1,500 model tokens.
- Shared site budget and concurrency controls can pause AI generation. Failed or canceled generation attempts may still use an allowance or budget reservation.
Original passage extraction, source search, Markdown and preset fields have their own processing limits and do not consume a model request. They still use our server; “no generative model” does not mean your file stays entirely on your device.
Consent and file privacy
AI mode requires explicit consent before extracted text and your question are sent to the displayed provider. The current Bailian integration uses its Beijing endpoint. This integration sends text rather than uploading your original file to provider storage. Provider policies and operational logs still apply.
Review every answer
A generated summary or answer can omit information or contain mistakes. OCR can misread amounts and names. Page references help you compare the output with the original; they are not independent verification. Full document translation is not offered in this launch.
